Kunia Camp is a rural community in central Oahu. It rests along Hawaii Route 750 which starts at Wilikina Drive and continues south to connect with the H1 Freeway near Village Park and Waipahu.
This community started as a housing development for agricultural workers of Del Monte pineapple plantation. The plantation was in operation from the early 1900’s up until 2006. A couple of years after its closing, the land and houses were given to the Hawaii Agriculture Research Center, and residents were able to keep their leases and homes.
The 107 houses in Kunia Camp are traditional Hawaiian plantation-era style homes. They are cozy single-story floor plans with two to four bedrooms. The designs are simple single-wall construction with wide, overhanging eaves.
The community is still surrounded by open agricultural land. The Waianae Mountain Range borders it to the west, providing a peaceful backdrop against the quiet plain.
A quick drive north on Highway 750 connects residents to Wilikina Drive, Wahiawa, and Mililani. Honolulu and Haleiwa are both less than 30 minutes from the neighborhood.
