Halawa is a hillside neighborhood east of Aiea Heights in Pearl City. The neighborhood begins at the intersections of the H201, H3, and H1 Freeways and Aloha Stadium, and continues northward into the foothills of the Koolau Mountain Range above Pearl Harbor. The H3 Freeway runs northeast through the community and over the mountains, connecting to Kaneohe on Oahu’s northeastern shoreline. Main roads through Halawa include Halawa Heights Road and Poko Road that both connect to Ulune Street below. The USINDOPACOM Headquarters are located near the top of Halawa. Just one neighborhood over in Aiea Heights, residents can enjoy the Keaiwa Heiau State Recreation Area and Aiea Loop Trailhead.
Homes in Halawa overlook the city and Pearl Harbor, and some have lovely ocean views. Houses are built along the gently sloping hillside. Single-family homes are mostly simple one- and two-story designs in quiet, established neighborhoods. Some homes have recent renovations and landscaped yards. The island’s international airport and Honolulu is a 15-minute drive from here. Residents can quickly reach shopping, dining, and entertainment in Pearl City.
